Three weeks ago, whilst on a Christmas night out with colleagues, Anthony Knott 33, who works for the London fire brigade disappeared at around 7.40pm, the body of the firefighter who went missing has now been found.

Police have said that on Friday, a member of the public alerted the police that a body had been found at Denton island, in Newhaven harbour.

Anthony had been at a pub with a group of friends on a street in lewes, when he left alone around 7:16 pm

CCTV footage showed the dad of four walking outside dressed in a jumper jeans and dark jacket.  according to his family and with footage of the time captured on the CCTV, it is believed his mobile phone was unreachable 20 minutes after.

Detective Inspector Mark Rosser said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Anthony at this difficult time. We too are saddened by this update and would ask the public and media to respect the families’ privacy at this time.
