Hundreds of Hastings residents came to see the annual Christmas lights switch on in Priory Meadow on Thursday night.

Ben Watson, star of the White Rock Theatre’s Aladdin pantomime, was given the honour of switching on the lights in front of the large crowd.

The Arrow FM stage saw kids dancing and singing in the build-up to the switch on, all part of the event’s family-friendly feel.

The fireworks, accompanied with the usual oohs and ahhs, were a fitting end to a night that signals the beginning of the festive period.
