Outside Santa’s grotto at half nine this morning, children from Castledown school were the first of the Christmas carolers to sing classics such as 'Jingle Bell Rock', 'Silent Night' and 'The Twelve Days of Christmas' to an audience of parents and local shoppers.

This year Priory Meadow decided to take an unconventional theme with their Santa Grotto. Instead of traditional elves and reindeers, Santa’s workshop this year is surrounded by Middle Eastern worker dolls wearing turbans and Middle Eastern garments.

This year's Christmas festivities started on the 20th November when the Hastings Christmas lights were switched on.  The Ice Rink in the town centre is open until 5th January and you can now visit Santa in his Grotto on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
