Morning commuters were left bemused and entertained this morning when one of the early train services running from Ashford International to Hastings was delayed due to an unwelcome visitor being discovered in the stations signal box.

The driver greeted commuters on the 8.33 from Ashford, over the internal speaker system where he informed the passengers of a delay in the services this morning.

The driver notified the train that they were unable to depart from the station on time due to there having been a circus in town over the weekend, with one of the clowns going rogue and being discovered this morning having camped out overnight in the stations signal box.

As to how and why he got there, the answers are still unknown. When we reached out to a spokesperson for South Eastern trains, they declined to comment.
