On Saturday, January 30th, St Mary in the Castle is set to host the memorial day which was organised by local councillor Brian Linke, however it may have slipped under the radar.

Gavin Luker, graduating with a BA (hons) in Fine Art, expressed how the service was the ‘first he had heard’ when speaking to the artist. “I’m really interested in the service as I have done a lot of work on Anne Frank, so the holocaust is something of big importance to me”.

The service gives the local people a chance to commemorate the holocaust, nazi persecution and following genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

Last year 300 people attended the event, therefore it would be a shame for the service to unnoticed due to a lack in advertising.
