Passengers on southern rail are dealing with a second day of strike action this week by train drivers.
It’s means no services running on any route.
Today’s chaos ends when clock strikes midnight tonight only to start again on Friday. With further dates announced to 24th, 25th and 27th of January.
The one going dispute is about changes to the role of guards on southern trains, with the introduction of driver only operated services. This would mean that the driver and not the guard would be responsible for closing the doors.
Southern say they won’t back down on their intentions to modernise the service but the unions claim the changes are unsafe.
Passengers have suffered months of disruption because of the industrial action with no sign of a resolution. staff shortages and other problems.
Added to the strike action the train driver’s union Aslef are banning overtime which is leading to services being cancelled or delayed even on days the strike isn’t running.
