Johanna Konta is Eastbourne’s prize winning tennis international star that Eastbourne holds closely to their heart. The Women’s Tennis Association brought a surf of crowds to the seaside town last summer and although now in the winter most outdoor tennis pitches are looking desolate, works have begun to refurbish a brand new tennis complex in Devonshire park. With summer just 6 months away Eastbourne Council are confident that this rather large project will be fully completed by June this year.

Councillor Leader David Tutt is excited about this project and what it brings to Eastbourne.

“The tennis court here at Devonshire Park is just part of a wider project. About £1m is going to spent here to bring a new show court, a new media centre and changing facilities for the players and it will happen by June.”

David Tutt believes that the build of Devonshire park will economically boost Eastbourne as a town and naturally bring jobs to those who live in the surrounding area.

The Council are proud of the Sporting facilities that it holds with the community and other locations such as Eastbourne Sports Park and Gildregde tennis court are excited to welcome the new build at Devonshire Park.

Eastbourne Council are actively involved in a plethora of sports from holding major cycling marathons to three football teams, the push to increase even more sports in Eastbourne could equally make it the new sports hub of the South East Coast.
