Southern Rail have been given just ONE STAR for punctuality following a survey

Results of a passenger survey out today show that rail company Southern is the worst in the country for passenger satisfaction.

The results come after months of disruption due to regular strikes by the RMT union and the drivers union ASLEF over changes to the role of guards.

The company’s passengers rated the service just 21% for overall satisfaction, compared to 44% last year, and awarded one star for punctuality and value for money.

Meanwhile Southeastern came up as the second worst performer with a rating of 31% and Thameslink weren't far ahead with just 32%.

Some of Southern's passengers said why they rated the service so low, with one saying that she "cancelled a skiing holiday because of the uncertainty of the trains" whilst another branded Southern as "disgusting". One man commented: "The whole service is shoddy. They [the trains] never turn up on time and the tickets are far too much money and the price just keeps going up."

There are talks tomorrow about whether or not the strikes will go ahead next week.
