“What day is it?”, asked Winnie the Pooh. “It’s today,” squeaked Piglet. “My favourite day,” said Pooh. A.A. Milne.

Today 18th January 2017, on the birthday of author Milne, the world celebrates Winnie the Pooh day.

Winnie the pooh first appeared on the printed page in 1926, together with friends Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore.

The characters of the story were based on toys owned by Milnes' son, who also features in the famous story as Christopher robin.

Disney has released new Winnie the Pooh illustrations to mark Winnie-the-Pooh Day. The illustrations have been drawn in the classic style of E.H. Shepard by Kim Raymond, from Brighton, the official Winnie-the-Pooh illustrator at Disney.

The drawing is being released along with new research that one in four adults say their childhood best friend is still their adult best friend - with school the most common place to meet your best friend for life.

Laurencia ,Winnie the Pooh enthusiast said, “I love Winnie the Pooh because he is all about friendship and family. And, he loves food so I can relate to that.”

After four volumes of collection of stories and Disney movies, Winnie the Pooh and his friends still hold a very special place in the hearts of many.

“Sometimes,” said Pooh, “the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”
