Among the special releases this year were mainstream artists like Shaggy and ABBA.

Set up to celebrate the culture surrounding vinyl, a worker at Resident Brighton said: “It’s not just about the day, we get customers coming in for weeks after for...the special releases.”


But it’s not all good news. Phil Harding of Black Cat Records in Taunton said: ‘It’s harming the very stores it aimed to help…with a drop in sales before and after.”

A worker at Brighton’s Across The Tracks said: “People come just to buy it up and re-sell on EBay at ridiculous prices.”
