The adult film star, Stormy Daniels’ defamation lawsuit against President Donald Trump has been dismissed by a federal judge.
Daniels says she had a sexual affair with Trump in 2006 and that she was later threatened for speaking out about the alleged relationship.
She filed the case against Trump after the President not only denied the affair but tweeted that she’d invented the story and sold it to the “fake news media”.
However, the judge ruled that the tweet was protected by the United States’ First Amendment which guarantees freedom of speech, and ordered Daniels to pay Trump’s legal fees.
This ruling doesn’t affect a second lawsuit filed by Daniels against Trump over money she says she received from Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, to keep quiet about the affair.
Trump’s legal fees are still to be decided and Daniels says she will appeal against the ruling.
