This program’s goal is to provide an easy and efficient way to deal with the UK’s fastest growing source of household waste – textiles. All donations are either reused or recycled for further use.
The charity has set it up as a competition, in which the winning school will receive a prize and a special visit from Michael, the scheme’s mascot.
The Recycle with Michael programme also includes lesson plans, presentations, posters and charitable messages as free school materials for instructors to use.
Kirk Bradley, Head of Corporate Partnerships at The Salvation Army Trading Company was reported commenting: “We’ve tried to make the scheme as easy as possible for schools to take part in. By following four simple steps, schools across Sussex can receive a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of their donations directly into their school accounts.”
