Hastings man guilty of domestic violence walks free

 24-year-old, Clive Griffiths from Hastings was found guilty after beating a woman. The incident took place in London road, in St Leonards-on-sea. He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for a year. Magistrates said the reason for the sentence was because it took place in a domestic setting.

The court made a drug rehabilitation order and a requirement of 200 hours of unpaid work.


The national domestic violence charity Refuge provide support to women by helping with accommodation for those who are still living with perpetrators as well as emotional support.


According to Sussex police Violence and sexual offence has the highest crime rate in Hastings with a total of 705 offences between December 2017 and November 2018. Also according to Sussex police if you are a victim of abuse you can report it by calling 101, online or in person at your local police station.
