Nigel Kane is the new man in charge of Ryman League Division One South side, Hastings United.

The club has moved quickly to plug the gap following the resignation of Dom Di Paola on New Year's Day, installing Kane as first team boss on a permanent basis.

His first game is tonight's league match away to Horsham, who currently occupy the bottom spot.

Kane is a familiar face around Pilot Field,  having already led the club to promotion back in 2007.

A former U's player, Kane was caretake manager towards the end of 2005 before taking over as player/ manager, eventually taking sole charge in the 2006/07 season.

He parted ways with the club by mutual consent in December 2007, but recently returned as part of Terry White's management team and then as Head of Football Development under Di Paola.
