Brighton’s Amex stadium is set to host its first major eSports tournament this weekend. The tournament is organised by fledgling eSports company Estars and is built around the hugely popular video game Fortnite.

The game which was released in 2017 has amassed over 200 million players. It pits 100 people against each other in a battle royale style match, all gunning for the coveted “Victory Royale”.

They’re inviting players aged 12 and up to come along and compete for cash prizes on the day. The top 9 players from the event will then be invited up to the final in London later this year.

On its website, Estars says the event will be set in a real-life Fortnite Battleground, complete with the franchise’s most beloved characters.

That’s not all, the event will feature VIP guests, dance competitions and free stuff gven away throughout the weekend.

Professional gamer, Storm James who will be competing at the event gave a few tips on how he prepares for such an event: “For me, it’s all about getting in as much game time as I can, preparing myself mentally it the main focus.

The event begins this Friday 18th January and runs through to Sunday 20th.

More information and tickets can be found on the Estars website.
