The world’s first public unisex toilet will be opened for a trial period in Shanghai in November, in an attempt to reduce the time women spend waiting in queues.
The toilet, based in a busy park, will feature 10 unisex stalls, as well as some urinals and a stall for disabled people.
Attendants will monitor the stalls to ensure people’s privacy is maintained and a safe environment.
The are no plans for any further unisex toilets to be built, as local officials are unsure whether citizens will embrace the idea.
The grand opening on November 19th, will coincide with World Toilet Day.
